Their stories helped me appreciate and understand the challenges communities face. It reinforces the idea that individual well-being is intricately connected to the well-being of the community and society at large.

As I listened to the wise words of Nanay, I realized that I am very fortunate compared to others. I was changed for the better. In fact I got a “New Attitude” I came home a different person as her words struck me like an arrow which stayed in my heart and brain for a very long time.

My time in Basak revealed a resilient community finding joy amidst adversity. Despite stark differences in lifestyle, their adaptability and determination to live with smiles on their faces were inspiring. Learning about the challenges, especially the prevalent drug situation, emphasized the need for systemic changes to offer lasting opportunities.

During the parish immersion. I am very astonished of the dedication and the perseverance those people have. I have a new found appreciation for them. I would really like to visit them again and learn from them. I hope in the later years they can finally solve their problems.
